Nestled in seven acres of gorgeous countryside in the Loire Valley, Poplar House (which sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms) is one of two properties on the same site that can be rented together or separately. You enter the house via the farmhouse-style kitchen fitted with gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. To one end of the building is the large, dual-aspect lounge with satellite TV (with UK freeview TV/radio channels), DVD and video player, and a wood-burning stove. Doors lead out onto a covered terrace with a teak table and chairs and extensive views of the garden – a lovely place to while away an hour or two, particularly with a glass of the local wine! There is a very large bedroom above the lounge which has 2 x 2m zip and link beds. These can be configured as either 2 full-size single beds or a superking double. The master bedroom with a king-size bed, on the same level but at the other end of the house, features original beams and has its own en suite shower room. The other two bedrooms are on the ground floor off a corridor leading from the kitchen. Again, both bedrooms are large and have 2 x 2m zip and link beds. There are two ground floor bathrooms both with a bath, a shower, WC and washbasin. The house also has a utility room, containing a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron. A door from here leads directly into the main garden. We have travel cots with mattresses, high chairs and buggies available, which may save some space in your car.
Heated outdoor pool
At the far end of the garden is a 12m x 6m heated outdoor pool. This south-facing area sees the sun for most of the day and the terrace allows you to relax in a tranquil environment, perhaps with just the sound of the birds and the rustling of the poplars for company.
Local Attractions
This area is great for cycling. This property has 8 bikes including 3 for children for you to use. The Loire valley is famous for its wine and châteaux. It is an historic area of France with much to see and do. The town of Saumur, on the banks of the Loire, has a rich, cultural background and an imposing château. Poplar House is approximately 25 minutes’ drive south of Saumur, surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers. We (Emma, Tim and our young son, Ranulph) live on site and can help you or provide advice as required to make the most of your stay.
